Falmouth Harbor Sailing School

Teaching the community the art and science of sailing since 1990

Saturday Morning Adult Sailing Lessons
Every Saturday morning this summer, from July 1st to August 19th (no class July 22), the Falmouth Harbor Sailing School is offering sailing lessons for adults (and teenagers 16+), from 9 to 11:00 am. The lessons will be conducted in stable and comfortable Sonar sailboats. No previous sailing experience is needed, but more experienced sailors are welcome, and the instruction will be geared to the participants. The class size is limited, so don’t wait to sign up! Participants can come for one class or for all of them, but we recommend that you try to make it to at least 4 classes to get your “sea legs”.
Click the link below to sign up! The cost is $40 for non-members, $30 for members per class.

Thursday Twilight -Learn to Race Committee

Learn how to run races!  It's a great way to spend time on the water, meet people, learn about racing, and provide a vital service for the sailors.   If you have boating or racing experience, that is great, but beginners are welcome and encouraged.

You will learn:

  1. How to read the wind
  2. Set the course
  3. Drive adn anchor the Race Committee Boat
  4. Rund the starting sequence for races--stopwatch, flags, horns
  5. Sight the starting line- determine if anyboats are OCS (On Course Side at the start--oops!)
  6. Score finishes
  7. Have FUN!

Proper attire-- soft-soled shoes and a wind-breaker or foul weather gear if the conditions warrant-- sailing is an all-weather sport! Participation is FREE!

Thursday Twilight Sailing Series
Every Thursday evening from June 29th to August 17th (no class July 20th), the Falmouth Harbor Sailing School is hosting the Twilight Sailing Series. The series includes informal races as well as coaching for less experienced sailors in stable and comfortable Sonar class sailboats. Rigging of boats starts at 4 pm, and the boats leave the dock at 5 pm, getting back before sunset. Chalk talks before racing and coaches’
debriefs afterwards provide tips for the sailors to sharpen their skills.
Individuals as well as families are welcome, and women are particularly encouraged to participate. Some sailing experience is recommended, but no previous racing experience is needed. The emphasis is to have fun, not to win the races, but some participants think it is more fun to win.
Click the link below to sign up! The cost is $30/night for members, $40/night for non-members.
